We offer a two year programme for students aged 16-18 at the start of the programme. The qualification available to you is:
- Performing Arts Practise - BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in either Dance, MT or Acting. (*A one year BTEC L3 Foundation Diploma option may be considered under special circumstances, as might joining us for Year 2 having successfully completed Year 1 elsewhere).
Your area of specialisation will be either Acting, Dance or Musical Theatre. If you are looking to transfer to us for your second year, this may be possible - just contact us and we'd be happy to discuss your specific needs. The BTEC in performing arts is a nationally recognised qualification and is equivalent to up to three A-Levels.
These courses are delivered with our partner London South East Colleges (LSEC). This Level 3 course usually consists of four days per week performing arts contact time onsite at LCPA.
Live shows take place in our performance spaces, and many shows are open to the public. Assessments all take place internally, though some may be externally assessed or moderated.
Entry Requirements
- Skills audition
- Character reference from your current educational provider
- GCSE English and Mathsat grade 9 – 4. As a Level 3 course (with 3 A-Level equivalency), we would prefer that all new students have a grade 4 or above in Maths and English GCSE to ensure that the academic demands of the course can be met. However, if you do not achieve these grades, our commitment to supporting talent means this may not a barrier for entry to the course. However, at that stage your application will be reviewed by the senior team to ascertain suitability for the course. (See additional information via FAQs — London College of Performing Arts)
- Please note, if you are considering progressing on to degree level training at a later stage, all universities and higher education establishments have differing entry requirements and we advise this is considered before you decide to train with us for your BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A-Levels).
- We will accept applications from students aged 16-18 at the start of the course who have proof of residency in the UK.
